Ken and I ran early in the morning. We headed east and up a steep climb to Lake Islanjo and down the back side to Channel Road. We then turned west and connected with the Spring Lake trail then home for a 9.25 mile trail run.
When we arrived at Lake Islanjo and just beyond a clearing on the west side we spotted 5 male deer grazing in a meadow. They didn't get fazed at all.
On the back side heading for Channel Road, I almost stepped on this little rough-skinned newt. He stayed long enough for me to take a pic with my cellphone before crawling away slowly.
Business: 9.25 mile trail run in 75 minutes.
